Q. From which University the courses are affiliated?

A. IMT - CDL has been recognized by Distance Education Council (DEC),  Ministry of HRD, Government of India, vide their letter No. DEC/Recog/IMT/07/5966, dated 4th October, 2007 for offering distance education management programmes.

Q. Whether we will get Diploma or Degree after the completion of the course?

A. Being an Institute, IMT-CDL can provide the PG Diploma of two years and one year which will bear the recognition of DEC. Degree is provided only by University and Institutes can provide only Diploma. Even IIMs being institutes, provide only Diploma.

Q. What is difference between Offline and Online mode of PGDM?

Offline Mode: Classes at Information Centre as per the set schedule. Exams & Assignments with optional mode either online or offline. Registration can be done either directly online or visiting Information Centre.
Online Mode: Classes, Exams, Assignments are all online. Registrations will be done online only. Information Centre will remain as IMT-CDL, H.O. Ghaziabad


Q. What is the eligibility criterion?

A. Minimum eligibility criteria for different courses are:

Q. What is the Mode of Payment of fees?

A. Payments are accepted by Non-Refundable Demand Draft only, in favour of IMT-CDL, payable at the city of the respective study centre valid for six months.

Q. Is there any possibility of the change in fees structure?

A. IMT-CDL reserves the right to change fees structure from time to time. The revised fee would be applicable to all the students.

Q. How many times in a year admissions are taken?

A. There are two programme (admission) cycles:

Q. What is the procedure of taking the admission in the above prescribed courses?

A. 1. Admission can be pursued by taking an application form of Rs.1100/-   
        from the nearest study centre (list available on web-site).

    2. Application Forms may also be availed directly from IMT-CDL, H.O. by
        sending a DD of Rs.1100/-, payable at Delhi at the below mentioned

Q. What are the Important Dates regarding the admission into the various courses?

A.

  • Last Date for Admission in January 2012 session is 29th February, 2012.
  • For Ph.D registrations will begin in June 2012 for July 2012 admission session.

Q. Is there any exemption from admission test?

A. For Two Year PGDM, following are the exemptions:

  • Two Year work experience after graduation.
  • Throughout first class from 10th, 12th and Graduation.
  • Holder of One year PG Diploma from IMT-CDL.
  • Senior public administrators, Officers of Defence Services (serving personnel of Army, Navy and Air Force only), Academicians, Technical or Legal Professionals/CA/ICWA/CS/MBBS/M-Tech.

One Year PG Diploma Courses have direct admission without any entrance test.

Q. Is there any concession in the fees structure available?

A. 20% concession is available for SC/ST and defence personnel on Academic fees for the courses on which (*) is marked.

Q. What is the nature of the Admission Test?

A. It is objective type test where the Questions are of multiple choice, designed to measure a person’s general aptitude, namely:

  • Proficiency in English Language
  • Quantitative and Numerical Ability
  • Ability for Data Analysis & Interpretation
  • Reasoning and General Intelligence
  • Awareness of Socioeconomic Environment

This is of total 100 marks with 33 % pass percentage.

Q. How are the classes (PCP) being conducted at IMT-CDL?

A. PCPs (Personal Contact Programmes) are conducted on Sundays in the study centres and IMT-CDL H.O. (in case IMT-CDL H.O. has been opted by the student as study center). Class schedule can be confirmed from the respective Study Centre.

Q. When are the End-term & Supplementary examinations conducted?

A. End Term Examinations (ETE) are held in the months of June & December every year.
Provision of Supplementary Exams are also provided in the month of March & September every year to clear the backlogs and left outs.

Q. What is the mode of examination?

A. Students have both the option of offline (subjective) and online (objective) mode of examination.

Q. What is the criterion of the distribution of Marks?

A. Each subject consists of 100 marks with the following bifurcations:

  • 70 marks – ETE (min. 28 marks required to pass)
  • 20 marks – Assignments
  • 10 marks – PCP
  • In total 45% is the minimum pass percentage required to clear a subject.

Q. Are the Grace marks allowed in case of the failure in examination?

A. 3 Grace Marks are allowed per year in case a student falls short by 3 marks. These marks can be availed to make up the shortfall in passing percentage in either one subject or maximum two subjects.

Q. If a student doesnot attend the PCP, then how the marks will be allotted?

A. In that case no marks in PCP will be allotted. Student is required to secure a min. 45 marks in total of Exam and Assignment to clear that particular subject.

Q. What is the mode of exams and assignments?

A. Now the student can avail any of the options of online and off-line Exams and Assignments.

Q. Is there any maximum time period allotted for the Validity of the Course?

A. The maximum duration for completing any course is the double number of years of normal duration. 

Q. Is there any upgradation facility being provided by IMT-CDL?

A. Holders of one year specialized Diploma in Management of IMT - Centre for Distance Learning with 60% or above will be given permission for up-gradation to the second year of the 2 year programme, provided the upgradation is being done within the set time-frame. Upgradation shall not be allowed in the case of Cyber Security and Taxation courses.

Q. What is the difference between One Year & Two Year PG Diplomas?

A. One Year PG Diploma is the direct specialization in the field of your choice as per the programmes being offered by IMT-CDL; whereas Two Year PGDM is the programme which consists of core papers of different areas of Management in first three semesters and the fourth semester gives you choice of selecting specialization (Finance, HRM, Operations, International Business, Marketing & Systems).

Q. What about the placements in IMT-CDL?

A. Placement assistance is being provided in regular programme only as in distance learning maximum number of students are already working.
