Institute of Management Technology, Centre for Distance Learning, Ghaziabad organized EDGE 2011 on the theme ‘Emerging trends in production and operations management’ at India International Centre on 15 May 2011. The Speakers dwelled upon the paradigm shift that operations management could usher in, causing major changes for the betterment in diverse production and operations fields of the industry. The objective of the workshop was to develop an understanding of the role of production and operations management in a firm’s success and to develop an ability to structure and solve operations related problems analytically.

EDGE 2011 , started with lighting of the lamp by Dr. A.M Sherry . Director , IMT -CDL along with the other resource persons of the workshop , which was followed by the inaugural talk by Dr. A. M. Sherry . Prof Sherry enlightened the delegates about the relevance of the workshop and the significance of EDGE 2011. He spoke, it is a new initiative taken by IMT for the distance learning students to bridge the gap between industry and academia, and more over bridge the gap between MBA and distance MBA.
At the end of the workshop, a quiz was conducted for testing the effectiveness of the workshop using the sample random sampling through MS-excel using a function ‘randbetween’, the five delegates were selected out of 306 (total delegate of the workshop). The five MCQs were displayed on the screen. The winner name were declared by the quiz judge Prof. NK Dhooper, Professor Emeritus and winner were awarded by Dr. AM Sherry, Director, IMT-CDL.
