Ashok Kumar Rauniar was until recently Executive Director (HR) in Indian Oil Corporation.

He is a Post Graduate in Personnel Management & IR from Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi with Gold and  Silver Medal. He is also LLB with distinction and Gold Medal to his credit. He is a Qualified Lead Assessor for ISO 9002

He has attended a number of national/international seminars and training programmes including the programmes in USA and Europe.

He has been faculty for various training programmes on HRM especially in OD interventions, HRD initiatives, Industrial Relations, Contract Labour Management and is associated with prestigious Management Institutes.

Work Experience

He was  with Indian Oil for over three and half decades having joined the Corporation in 1975.

He has handled various important assignments in HR, viz.  Personnel, IR, Administration, HRD, Training, Management Services etc. as Head of HR in IndianOil’s Refineries Division, Marketing Division, Pipelines Division and Corporate Office.

Significant Contribution

• Spearheaded the Organisation re-structuring initiatives through manpower studies in  major Refineries in 1980s and 1990s, continual designing of optimum manpower norm, manpower benchmarking with international standards, Competency development of senior executives etc.
• Formulation of HR Policy and HRD  Strategy
• Envisioning Industrial Relations and Welfare Policy
• Renewal of Communication Strategy
• Evolving and establishing soft systems in HR function contemporary to  time.
• Conceptualising and implementing OD interventions.
